Tesco Malaysia has signed up with CIMB Bank to utilise Plug n Pay, a mobile Point-of-Sales (mPOS) payment platform for their Tesco Online home deliveries. With 150,000 registered users and 4,000 orders a week, Tesco Malaysia is looking to open two more online hubs to reach a total of nine online hubs in Malaysia by year end.
Tesco Malaysia has recently adopted CIMB Bank’s mobile Point-of-Sales (mPOS) solution, Plug n Pay for its Tesco Online home deliveries. The mPOS solution which is powered by Soft Space is changing the way businesses operate – giving customers a seamless enjoyable experience.
“We are very pleased to be able to provide the “Plug n Pay” by CIMB Bank payment method to all our Tesco Online customers where they can be assured of a safe and cashless transaction. To-date Tesco Malaysia has 150,000 registered users for online service and the number of (online) orders has increased to our record high of 4,000 orders per week, just last week,” said Georg Fisher, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Malaysia.
With Tesco Online, customers can now order from a selection of 18,000 fresh produce and groceries, which will be delivered to their doorstep. Once their order is checked and verified, customers can now opt to pay via debit or credit cards using the Plug n Pay solution. The wholesome experience aims to not only gain customer satisfaction but indirectly encourage cashless payments.
“We hope this partnership will encourage more Malaysian businesses to adopt Plug n Play and in turn help boost the number of cashless transactions in the market, to be in line with BNM’s target to increase the number of cashless transactions per capita from 44 to 200 by year 2020,” said Tengku Zafrul, CIMB Group’s acting group chief executive.
“With the launch of Tesco Online home deliveries utilising Plug n Pay, we are living our vision in moving towards creating a cashless society. It is exciting to see the way businesses are changing in providing customers a seamless and wholesome experience,” said Chang Chew Soon, Founder of Soft Space.
“We are proud to partner with an industry leader like Tesco who believes in innovation to continuously bring a better shopping experience for their customers,” added Tengku Zafrul.
“Soft Space would like to congratulate Tesco Malaysia and CIMB Bank on the launch. This bold collaboration will lead the market and encourage the usage of mPOS solutions in Malaysia. It is pretty exciting to see Tesco Malaysia being innovative by venturing into mPOS with CIMB Bank’s full support. We wish them the best journey ahead,” says Chang.
